I agree, I don't think there's a 10/10 album this year. Several great ones, but no classics. The closest was Moonsorrow in my books, but I don't think that's a classic either.

And I got to admit I kind of think most of the albums I consider to be 10/10 have reached that score over a relatively lengthy period of time. To me, they need to stand the test of time. I guess I'd be a shitty reviewer, I probably could never give an album full points until after an year or so later :D Don't know if this discussion would fit more in the Best of 2016 topic...

New records could never get a 10/10 from me - I think. There's always room for improvement, unless the record stands the test of time, in which case the possible imperfections may just work for its advantage. And yes, this discussion should be in that thread, so let's bury it

Don't know whether I should link this one in the Black Metal or the Death Metal thread, so I'll just post it here. I have to admit, I had my suspicions regarding this project, but goddamnit, it sounds fucking good. Nothing surprising considering there's Blasphemy, Conqueror and Revenge guys behind it, but still, it blasts.

Nice, I totally forgot they finally got the album out. Judging by the output I think it's one of the better 'supergroups' out there. Most are hit'n'miss in every genre. Some fortunately deliver. Barren Earth made also a homerun last year.

One of the recent examples is Sinsaenum. Totally uninspired garbage, not even Attila can save it. I'm a little bit surprised why he has even gotten into it? For instance this song, how can you even make an over 5 minute song with such one-dimensional ideas? By the way, I'm pretty sure Death Worship album has only been released at the NWN! Fest, still waiting for regular sale, I think.

You're right, no wonder I hadn't noticed it, it's NWN fest -only so far. I wonder what the DW artwork on the regular issue will be like. Somehow I don't think the public version will be all black.
Wow, that Sinsaenum track is lame crap! That probably would've sounded great to me 25 years ago.

Just listened to that Bölzer album. I can totally see the appeal and why it's hitting a lot of end-of-year lists so late, but it's a bit too disjointed and jarring for my tastes.

hah, I just played some of Hero and the vocals did not put me off. I love the guitar style, but it does sound like it is just one long song. Hm. Maybe I'll buy it if I find it for the cheap at some point.
black vinyl can always wait.

Death Worship sounds good damn!
EDIT: wtf no digital release and only 250 lps on NWN and related to those bands? Jeez. I always have gotten crucified on that forum for my limited runs, but at least when that's the case, the audio is freely available.
