People are complaining because they're apparently popular now. I think it is great that metal is appealing to the "masses.".
black vinyl can always wait.

The people who complain that metal is getting popular are the same people who complain that 'plebs' with awful taste don't like metal

It's the most backwards thing

I'm pretty sure metal has already been popular since the 80s

Did Nails go mainstream? Aren't they more like powerviolence anyway, which is closer related to hardcore and punk than metal

People tend to use way too much energy thinking what others think of their music taste and how the fit to the "scene". I think Ghost is perfect example of this. Everyone just should listen what they like to listen. The end.

Converge's Jacob Bannon has been heavily promoting these guys so I decided to check it out expecting some weird hardcore but nein, it is this post-black metal thing that's so popular right now, and yet I liked it, ha.

I came across them on Friday (the guitarist also plays in the band Wiegedood, who definitely deserve checking out) and really liked the 2 songs that I heard.

I checked out their other 2 albums and their older stuff (especially the first) is much more hardcore specific. I didn't like it, but the second had a bit more BM to it so i dug that.

Haven't listened yet, so we'll see after I take a shower

EDIT: Love it. Might be my favorite Devin Townsend album. Great mix of the old DTB style with the pop elements from Addicted/Epicloud/Sky Blue.
