Hmm, I didn't think it was that bad! And the Donkey Kong Country SNES trilogy is the most played series of games by me, the music of which is right at the top of video game soundtracks as well. I could see why you'd say that, though. It doesn't particularly stand out from the album for me; perhaps it's the pairing of the idea of the original music and synthwave that doesn't work all that well because it's a rather nostalgic piece of music for most and the ambient track it's supposed to represent. For what it is, I don't think it's particularly bad. Synthwave is probably better paired with more energetic video game tracks. Maybe a track like Gang Plank Galleon would've been more suitable. I am unfamiliar with pretty much all of the other games on the album, but I do really dig the Gremlins and Castlevania tracks.

If this feeling lasts, this might quite easily end up being the best album in the genre this year for me. I'm especially drawn into title track. Over 10 minute long tracks seem to be really rare (I can only think of Dangerous Days) and this just blows away everything. Absolutely stellar. It leaves this positive empty feeling best long tracks manage to do. You wonder how it ended already when it just started. For a while you don't know what to do, maybe even question meaning of life for a brief moment. Listening to any music immediately after, maybe apart from replaying the same album, just isn't an option.
