The deed is done. The Mikkeller calendar is here and ordered. It's €140 including shipping, but it will be worth it (€5,8/bottle).

I highly recommend Nail Brewing's Antarctic Nail Ale. It might be a little pricey but it is delicious. I must have had it at least a dozen times and it is just fantastic.

Shit! Now they got in all kinds of Mikkeller San Diego brews and spontan-series just when I've already made a few orders from the Mikkeller webshop. It's another 150e into their pockets. My credit card is dying, but at least I will have good beer for a few years, haha

Here's 25% off your first month's subscription (Mikkeller Beer Mail or Mikkeller Beer Club) in case you want to join. The link and the code here (I got a similar subscription discount too from a friend, sweet):

Don't you have to go pick it up at the post office? My post is right next to the liquor store anyway. Tongue

All the beer packages from around Europe, including Mikkeller's, come to my front door via various courier services (UPS, PostNL, PostNord, DPD, Colissimo, those at least). Mikkeller uses UPS.

Picking up 30kg beer packages from the post office would not be that tempting Big Grin
I usually try to use the shipping costs to my advantage by ordering as many bottles in weight/quantity as can be fitted into one package and within the usual 30 kg package limit.

Back from vacation in Sicily. Unfortunately, italian beer is mostly not my kind of stuff, but since I do like wine as well, it was expendable for a while. I forgot to take a picture of the only really good italian beer I had (at a metal bar :-D) and now I can't find it on Untappd or anywhere else. I did have a strong french brew called Bière du Démon which was pretty nice tho.

Heads up quality beer lovers!

It's starting to be the last chance to join the Mikkeller Beer Club. A while back Frank said that they are taking only 50 new members more and then they are closing the club for new subscriptions, and they don't know when they are opening it again, because they are getting so many member that managing the member perks is getting too time-consuming. They are revamping the membership perk system in the club and doing some other renovation for next year too.

The regular Beer Mail is staying as it is, but the Club is closing - and that one has the really cool shit! This month had, for example, the unbelievable Mikkeller San Diego Beer Geek Vanilla Shake 13% pint can (with lots of vanilla and coffee). It's one of the top 5 beers I've ever tasted. The Club is well worth the money.

You'll get 25% off your first month from here. Check it out:

Haha, sucker! Did you take the regular Beer Mail that delivers the basic Mikkeller beers (which are pretty good), or the soon-to-be exclusive Beer Club?

Frank Hilmer just posted today in the Mikkeller Beer Club facebook group that from the beginning of next year on the webshop and especially the Beer Club will have some exclusive high-quality beers imported from USA. There was a poll a few weeks back where you could vote for any/several of your dream US craft beer breweries - one which Mikkeller would then go visit in the US and try to work a deal with. The brewery they made a deal with is one of the top five craft beer breweries people voted for. To be revealed possibly next week. All the top 5 breweries have their beer average rating around 4.2 in Untappd, which is outrageous. I can't wait to get my hands on those.

Let's see how the revamped MBC perk system looks next year too. It costs about €75/month, but it's well worth the money if you enjoy craft beer and new tastes. One of the beers this month was a key lime pie IPA with coconut and vanilla added. Really weird, but it turned out to be really good after half way Smile I have no idea how I can ever resign from the club and cancel the subscription. Bugger.
