At first listen Aural Hex sounds great! If a vinyl comes out, I'll surely buy it. This was the first of the great surprises for me this year.
Vocals are effected and very buried in the mix, similar to Ufomammut, and the music is trippy with meaty riffs and long, huge build-ups just like Ufomammut again. But this is not as sludgy. There are great wailing solos and it's much groovier and gets my feet involuntarily tapping. I hear Kingston Wall in the drums fills and guitar melodies too - which is always a huge bonus in my books.
The blast beats in a couple of songs caught me by surprise, especially those at the end of the second song. In a good way
