I am actually really digging the new Neurosis so far, gave it two cursory listens, surprised you're disappointed, sounds like the best thing they've done in years to me!
Also, weirdly, my Sovereign replacement LP arrived on Friday, haha! Should buy this new one on vinyl probably.

I'm not disappointed, far from it. Honor... was a bit of a letdown, but I really like the rest, this new too. But I still can't tell how it ranks with me. It's great, but does it go to awesome or even the Through.:./Times... level. Well, that's unlikely but let's see later. Now it has surpassed Given... too. Needs time for me.

I got all the way through the second pass this time, and loooved it. Bought it on vinyl immediately. Which version(s) did you get?
It's definitely a little different than earlier stuff. I feel like it's if you take their middle years (Enemy of the Sun / Through Silver) and took away the atmospheric elements, stripped it to its raw core - it's really simple but really effective. Maybe not as good as those albums but a close 2nd.
