RE: Doom and gloom - RevolvingImages - 04-20-2016

Love these guys:

Shame they dissolved, but I am happy with the work that's been done by AtomA and Enshine.

There's more stuff like Atoma? Their album is one of my absolute favourites ever. Gotta check this out.

EDIT: Slumber is fkin amazing. And they're like Atoma before Atoma. How on earth did I not know of them? Been depressed over Atoma's indefinite hiatus for no reason.

Dolorian is probably one of my favorite metal bands. I would buy those up on vinyl in a heartbeat!!!

Thanks for the reminder on Inverloch, meant to check out their album when it was released, sounds great! Have their EP.

Yeah, Inverloch's great. I mentioned them in the death metal thread, but they certainly fit into either one of the categories :)

I've lately enjoyed this black/doom band called Creeping quite a lot: https://ironboneheadproductions.bandcamp.com/album/creeping-revenant

Don't sleep on Planning for Burial now...

Glad you like Slumber! Atoma is one of my all-time favorites as well. After Slumber broke up, their members went their separate ways and formed Enshine and Atoma. They're both incredible.

Listened through Fallout and the Enshine records earlier today. Can't believe I've been missing out on these. Here's to hoping Atoma will one day find the possibility to come back with whatever the follow-up album was supposed to be called, Nova?

Also, since we have a label owner in our midst, Atoma vinyl plzthx? I'll buy five.

P.S. Meant to link Skylight here, found this instead. Pretty neat.

Atoma was on my list of bands to reissue on vinyl, but I never wrote them and now I'm done with reissues, so it'll have to be someone else. But I'd gladly buy a copy. Love their album.

RE: Doom and gloom - Doogz - 04-23-2016

I've never been big into pure doom, I guess I always loved the Peaceville "big three" in the early-mid nineties (Anathema, My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost), each of which have since followed their own respective paths. Do Summoning and Cult Of Luna vaguely fall into the doom bracket...?

Without doubt, "Hope Finally Dies" by Decomposed is one doom album that EVERYBODY should hear.

Lycus "Chasms" is pretty good, came out earlier this year, not sure if I like it as much as their earlier album "Tempest" though.
