Well now they have to pay to re-press Nothing and ship them out to everyone for free, so wouldn't they have saved a bit of money doing QC? Obviously they can't count on always catching an error that would've cost more than QC, but I'm sure they could recoup the cost elsewhere when they do so much mailorder business.

Oh sure, but isn't this an age-old human thing?  People buy 10k cars that need tons of TLC instead of just going all in on a 20k car that will work like a warhorse.

They're trying to cut corners and hoping it'll pan out in the long run.  It might, it might not.  I'd rather save myself the extra energy and embarrassment.  I have caught tons of problems when QC'ing which has led to repressing many parts before they went to public.

I am quite convinced that most of the larger labels are just interested in the medium as a device for transmitting the material (and bringing in revenue) and not actually in the medium itself.

True enough, J. They could have saved a lot of money if there were no problems. That was their gamble, I guess. You're definitely right about NB not giving a shit about the medium – if it didn't make bank, they'd not be bothering at all. However, there are other similarly-sized labels who do (besides you), like the Kscope/Burning Shed setup. I also think Inside Out/Century Media have gone all-in on vinyl, just not without mistakes.

I fucking hate Night of the Vinyl Dead and their fucking low-pressing-number-without-ever-reissuing shenanigans... so they got my money. Weird how that worked.

Epicloud = good

Epiclouder = crap

Z2 = crap

Sky Blue = Good

50% average right now.

Someone who got an advance copy of Trascendence at the hevydevy forums said this sounded more like Terria than Epicloud, so we'll see, might be a good one.

40 Watt Sun newest up for PO at the bands webpage! Svart will have it up soon, I guess. £42 ppd for a vinyl is just too rich for my taste.

RE: Release News / Pre-orders - Godflesh - 07-25-2016

I wasn't too keen on the new material live, so I'm not sure I'll jump on it. I'll see about it later.

Preorders are up for the first run of Anata – The Infernal Depths of Hatred, a seriously crackin' album never pressed before.

RE: Release News / Pre-orders - Blood Music - 07-25-2016

Oh wow, that's a name I haven't heard in a long time.

RE: Release News / Pre-orders - hugo - 07-25-2016

Welp, 40WS clear copies are GONE! Hopefully Svart kept some copies to sell themselves.

Gotta be honest, I was really looking forward to it but that teaser didn't do anything for me. Sad
