The Pop Thread - Kvlt-Mart - 04-11-2016 Since an unexpected trend with the new Public Forum is to launch dedicated genre threads, I figured I might as well open the floodgates here in case anyone else has a secret love for well made pop music but is too afraid to bring it up. My top 3 pop albums are: Paramore - Paramore (won album of the year for me in 2013) Marianas Trench - Masterpiece Theatre (tasty vocal harmonies aplenty with a finale track that nicely covers the whole album preceding it) The Beatles - Abbey Road (an eternal classic) And I'll kick it off with an honourable mention for a personal favourite artist of mine who had a big impact on my first album, Lights. RE: The Pop Thread - Blood Music - 04-11-2016 Grimes (earlier stuff) RE: The Pop Thread - Blood Music - 04-11-2016 http://petapixel.com/2016/04/08/phil-collins-remastered-6-albums-reshot-covers/ RE: The Pop Thread - Theli727 - 04-11-2016 (04-11-2016, 12:40 PM)Blood Music Wrote: http://petapixel.com/2016/04/08/phil-collins-remastered-6-albums-reshot-covers/ Pop music is such a wide genre. Ofcause for me being the age i am, you cant get pass ABBA lol. Today i really enjoy listening to the likes of Lana del Rey,Lady Gaga,Amy winehouse (hardly pop), Adam Lambert. Adele and some other artist. Its not the genre i listen to most but good written pop music is good music.
RE: The Pop Thread - RevolvingImages - 04-11-2016 I don't really listen to much that's "new" these days, but here's some older stuff that I absolutely love: Tori Amos - 'Little Earthquakes' up through 'From the Choirgirl Hotel' Sarah McLachlan - 'Fumbling Towards Ecstacy' and 'Surfacing' Imogen Heap - 'Speak for Yourself' The Beatles RE: The Pop Thread - Godflesh - 04-11-2016 Yeah, Tori Amos from Little Earthquakes 'till ummm.... Unrepentant Geraldines. RE: The Pop Thread - Dead Head - 04-16-2016 (04-11-2016, 12:06 PM)Blood Music Wrote: Grimes (earlier stuff) Art Angels was last year's album of the year for me! One of my favorite noise pop albums is Rollerskate Skinny's Horsedrawn Wishes. RE: The Pop Thread - hugo - 04-16-2016 I will follow this thread. Being a 80s kid I have a soft spot for new wave and pop. That's why Wild Nothing's Nocturne won't leave my rotation. RE: The Pop Thread - Al Hungerstrike - 04-22-2016 I have to confess, Tears for Fears still gets me. I think it's the nostalgia thing. My dad loved them and I would hear them all the time when I was a kid. When the intro music came up in Donnie Darko, I almost jumped out the seat in excitement at the cinema. RE: The Pop Thread - purplepanda - 04-22-2016 Heard this a couple of weeks ago, forgot about it and just came across it again. I guess it's more indie rock but it's sweet so whatever |
