Sorry for mostly silence folks, things are just going full speed behind the scenes here to gear up for a big relaunch, in addition to all the moving around of warehouses, homes, etc.
We're working on strong distro now in about 7-10 new countries, plus we *may* be rebuilding the webshops from scratch.

I'm posting these retrospective things on FB about the inner workings of the label. On the first one, a couple people said to write a book. On the second one, many more people said to write a book. I really wrote it off with the first few comments but now that many people are mentioning it, it has my brain working.
I was thinking it's not really necessary to write a book and would only be of limited use to people, but enough people mentioned it that my ears pricked up. Same sort of situation happened with the Blood Music shirts long ago. Godflesh on here told me multiple times to make them, and I swatted the idea away thinking no one would care. Eventually a few more people asked for them, so I tried it and it's to date the best selling piece of merch (non-record related) the label has produced. So, maybe sometimes it's hard to see my own label's self-worth. In any case, should I really consider writing a book? It wouldn't just be the mundane nitty gritty of the label but mixing some of that in with philosophy and theory and experience. I wanna say the label is too young for it, but it has risen so quickly that I might have something useful to share.

I think it's an idea worth to be considered properly. Besides, if you do write a book, you'll get even more material from the future changes. I think the story is truly interesting and I know I'm not alone with my opinion. Sure, the Blood Music shirts may sell better in the end than the book, but you can never tell beforehand what kind of a Blood Music bestseller and inspiration for all aspiring label-starters this would turn out.
Don't write it off.

You'll probably get a lot of people dooming this idea if you're going to pursue it, but you're bound to get that reaction from certain people no matter what you do, so to hell with them!

I decided to ask on Twitter and on FB as well. So far on Twitter, they are more negative. On FB, more positive.
I realized though that since the label is about to morph a bit, it might be a good time for me to go through and get down at least all the stories of everything that's happened because after the switch they may start to fade more and more. I think almost everything is pretty fresh. I also think focusing JUST on the stories of the label for a 5 year old label isn't interesting on its own, but I have ideas how to try to work it. Not sure if they will work until I would put it down but if K really helps out to take the pressure off, it could be something I work on for a few months.

Great idea. I wouldn't rush with the book, but perhaps start working on it now and collect stories and whatnot as you go and then release the whole thing years from now, maybe when (if?) you retire or the label closes or whatever.

Good plan. Stick to the current retrospective posts, maybe flesh out your notes in private to revisit them for a book when BM 2.0 is in and working.

Write those stories for later use. The label is too young to write a book about it, imo. Maybe a blog but not a book.
