Thoughts on this? https://victorlove.bandcamp.com/album/technomancy
Just listened to the second track off of the upcoming album. Was drawn in by the Valenberg art and concepts similar in style to other darksynth artists, but find the presence of vocals to be somewhat off-putting. Too (cyber)goth for me, or something. At least, from what I've heard so far. Here's a track without vox, though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc0iW_v4HzU

At least for this one, though I'm hoping they release the back catalog as well, their first two full-lengths are still my favorite.

Nice, gotta keep an eye out for that vinyl. Always bugged me, too, that they were digital-only.

Why do you guys crave for vinyls that much? I don't have a vinyl player myself and I just wonder, is the sound quality really that much better? I'm a musician and a homegrown sound producer and I can't imagine how a vinyl record could improve raw digital sound. Or is it just about getting a nice collection of kickass albums that you can put on a display (that Perturbator vinyl is so nice!)

Synthwave da best
I've always liked this kind of music, possibly because of being gamer since age of three, but never really knew a uniting term or genre for it. Didn't partically try either though but still. That is until past summer when I started watching CorridorDigital's videos after a really long break. First one was Real Life GTA and MiniDrones Blew Up My Toys! followed up soon after. I really loved the music in those videos. It just so happens both were from the same artist (Carpenter Brut), who would have guessed? In searching more info about Carpenter Brut I stumbled across Perturbator and logically Dan Terminus and GosT almost immediately after. Pretty soon I realised BloodMusic had actually signed up them that I found quite odd and interesting at the same time. I had know BloodMusic for a long while but didn't really follow them. Skipped Ensiferum LPs and SYL boxset back in the days (wouldn't do that anymore) but had to get the Moonsorrow box. After that, complete ignorance from my part. Anyway, I ended up going to Flashback Future at the end of summer featuring Perturbator, GosT, Dan Terminus and Flash Arnold. Sadly we missed Arnold due to infernal queue to the venue. Back then I hadn't listented to any of the artists nearly as much as I have now so I can't say for completely sure but I thought live situation added hardly anything to the music. After getting over that "dissapointment" I though fuck it, lets just enjoy the music. After that Perturbator part ended up being one of the best live experiences I've had in my life. Oh, and I'm preeetty sure I would buy those transparent vinyls now if I had the chance. Back then I had all those albums as CDs already and my vinyl craze hadn't started yet so I thought I'd save the money. Nowadays I own all of those but GosT as vinyls, with almost as much paid per piece as well... In the end my first vinyl synthwave vinyl was Kung Fury's soundtrack back in october. Love it and its value has risen quite nicely even after counting postage fees I paid. At the moment Code Elektro's Superstrings is waiting for me at the local record store. As of now, Carpenter Brut's Trilogy has grown to be one of my favourite albums of all time. 55 euros for vinyl repress didn't even hurt this time. At a right time, it just might crawl as high as into my top 5. That top 5 normally consisting solely of Moonsorrow albums. Dangerous Days goes really high as well even tough it isn't the same caliber of perfection as Trilogy. Uh, enough rambling for one post? |
