Going to see Scale the Summit tonight
Well, I survived Roadburn! It was awesome; so many good shows! Saw at least one Blood Music shirt, and even a Carpenter Brut one. Otherwise not much out of the norm, besides a lot of people into hardcore who came to check out G.I.S.M. (who put on an awesome show btw).
Biggest complaint has to be the venue size. Other than the 013 itself, the lines for Het Patronaat, Cul De Sac and Extase were huge. Lychgate was good, but the sound was off; I couldn't hear the organ and higher notes clearly. Sound was off when I saw them last time in Rotterdam as well. After Lychgate I had to miss out on Dark Buddha Rising, because the line was incredibly long. They weren't even done, yet the line for Úlfsmessa already reached far into the street. I arrived 40 minutes early and still ended up somewhere near the back. The Wastement bands dominated the festival, imo. Oranssi Pazuzu had the best show, but I had a better time seeing them in Antwerp last month; it was way more intimate. Enslaved's Grutle scammed me out of a beer, and I had way too much bad food. All in all, a great time!
for your health

I hate lines, maybe I did good by not going to Roadburn *says while sobbing*
black vinyl can always wait.

Wow cool, thanks for the rundown! It seems like every fest these days reports back one Blood Music shirt, haha.
Too bad about the sound on Lychgate, I saw them last year and the sound was pretty good, but it is a very difficult band to pull off sonically. Already the record went through a very long and intense mixing process. I wanted to go to Roadburn but by the time I even asked, all hotels were sold out and apparently the fest doesn't give complimentary passes to anyone! Not even the bands, wow.

Shame that tour doesn't come to Finland... welp, might have to visit Stockholm for that. Too amazing of a combo for a tour to miss.

I'm attending Dark Troll Festival next month (as I do every year); especially keen to see the performances of Moonsorrow, Helheim, Wolves Den and Dvalin there.
One week later there's the Wave Gotik Treffen going on; it's always a pain in the ass (and often impossible) to see everything you want there since the festival is spread throughout the whole city, but I' trying to see Kauan, Näo and Enslaved in particular. Will be covering more metal bands, as I'm attending as an editor for Eternity Magazine again. And then, shortly after that festival: Sólstafir! Will be the second time I see them live; looking forward to that gig in particular.

Bloodstock are teasing a surprise announcement on their FB page. I think a lot of you will be pleasantly surprised when it's revealed who's reformed for a few shows... see if you can work it out from the clues:
