Utter disbelief...

Viva Presidente Trump. Plus it's red all over so no way to keep him in check on that side. I too am shocked but expected this to happen, what with living in a red state and sorrounded by god-fearing conservatives fed up with the status quo.

I had this feeling today like what if he decides to really make a go of it and somehow figures out how to be the greatest president of all time. Haha would be amazing.

That would be amazing, but it won't happen. Everyone I know who isn't a white male is terrified now, or at the very least unsettled and shaken by what is happening. My hope now is that instead of driving us all apart this will help keep us together, to fight for greater unity and acceptance of our difference even if it is the domino effect of a government run by individuals who have won on platforms of hate speech and lies.

This assessment from 8 months ago is pretty interesting, leaves me wondering, "who is the real Donald Trump?"

Very interesting read.

I'm once again a bit confused about how USA understands the concept of democracy. The way I see it, democracy should base on the majority's decision. As in, if you want the people to make the decision regarding a matter or an office, you should have at least two, but preferably more options/candidates/whatever of which they can pick the one they feel is the best. The option which has the most people backing it up, wins. Clearly USA, however, has a different take on this thing. I just can't see the logic behind it, but it's only me, I guess.

It's based on a system over 200 years old, so naturally updates would be in order, but that's way too much trouble. So, this old rigid, weird, and confusing model will be used for another century at least.

Yeah what's even weirder is that Clinton got more votes than Trump but she still got crushed in the arcane electoral votes system.

A republican friend of mine explained to me that the college thing was done to avoid people from submitting crazy options (like voting for animals - funny, no?) so it's aimed at weeding out the crazies. So fucked up.
