Oh and @ that DSO - discussion:
I started to like DSO when Fas came out. Was not too much a fan of SMR,C back then but it grew on me.
Starting with Fas I really liked everything they put. Glad I got all those first press LPs back when they were cheap Big Grin (well except for those before SMR,C but I still don't like them, so it doesn't matter too much for me)

I noticed people preordering KAUAN stuff and was like ???

Preordered the two swirls... And with that, I've made my first Blood Music purchase.

Where the shit is my SUMAC? I am catching them live next week and being the ISIS fanboy that I am, I will probably pee my pants 'cause of the excitement Smile

RE: Purchases and acquisitions - Lanttu - 05-28-2016

I just counted I've spent total of 950 euros* for Blood Music's releases this past year. I'm pretty sure my wallet hates Blood Music with bloody passion. And I'm still considering buy Grey Aura. With that I'd be so close to that magical thousand mark... Though I don't know if I really want to cross that. Smile

*(including postage fees from Blood Music webstore but also got 32 euros worth of stamps from Record Stop X which are not considered in this number in any way)

Just in, my 2 birthday presents to myself:

ISIS - The Sawblade ep (clear vinyl, pristine condition, cost me a pretty penny but nowhere close to the $118 avg it goes for at discogs Big Grin )
Katatonia - The Fall of Hearts (dlx, 2x10" - I hate, HATE that peaceville is doing this to us Katatonia completists, 2 bonus tracks are regular vinyl and digital only respectively)

Mayhem are the big one, despite hearing their music loads and seeing them live a few times over the last 20 years they just don't do anything for me. I've yet to hear their last album though, I must get round to listening to it.

Somehow I've never liked Mayhem, although I like most Norwegian black metal. There was something about Ordo that I liked, but it wasn't until their latest EW album that I got into them. At least that album. It's a great one.

It's their final release, and probably their most accessible in that style. Then move to Paracletus, and if you want stranger, then listen to Fas. If you want crazier then listen to some of their splits/singles like Chaining the Katechon. After one or both of those, check out Kénôse. Then just kinda listen to whatever you want.
I agree with everything above except I find Circumspice to be rather dull. It just fails to keep my attention. I know they started to experiment with their sound on that album but I view it more like a transitional record. Perhaps I'm spoiled listening to their later material first, but to me Circumspice sounds almost "generic" compared to the next two full lengths.

IMO, they finally achieved something original with the Kénôse EP and the few splits released around that time. Fas is excellent, probably my favorite right now. It's a very dynamic record, they use a lot of dissonant/crazy moments, but also a lot of softer ambient passages to great effect. Paracletus, is a logical follow up to Fas, and yes, the Drought EP is perhaps their most accessible, but still very much in the vein of Paracletus.
