It's strange how I never got into DSO until now. I've tried many times in the last 2 years but it never clicked, despite listening to many DSO-inspired bands. And suddenly these past few weeks, it was like a revelation.

DSO is bomb. I need their shit on wax. Ugh. So many things to purchase and acquire!

EDIT: Especially Fas. That record needs to be heard by every black metal fan imo.

Spot on! I've been meaning to give DSO their this year's chance. Every year I've tried, but there's always something bothering me. I'm really surprised that it hasn't clicked already - which is actually a good thing, because tracking shiny first pressings of their albums would mean losing a fortune again. I hate getting into bands ten albums in.

Carbon Based Lifeforms "Hydroponic Garden" SPLATTER 2xLP

Same here. I've never "got" them, despite liking a lot of bands that they've supposedly influenced.

Then again, there's a lot of bands I don't "get". Mayhem are the big one, despite hearing their music loads and seeing them live a few times over the last 20 years they just don't do anything for me. I've yet to hear their last album though, I must get round to listening to it.

me too + the kauan swirls

RE: Purchases and acquisitions - Aldhissla - 05-27-2016

Kauan - Sorni Nai (Black LP)
Kauan - Pirut (Black LP)

Not really into that swirl design, so the black editions will do fine. Very happy to have finally gotten a hold of this awesome music on vinyl!

Ditto on all the DSO questioning.

I'd love a good album to start with (again!)

Always start with Circumspice. It's not their best, probably their easiest listen though. Then listen to Drought. It's their final release, and probably their most accessible in that style. Then move to Paracletus, and if you want stranger, then listen to Fas. If you want crazier then listen to some of their splits/singles like Chaining the Katechon. After one or both of those, check out Kénôse. Then just kinda listen to whatever you want.

They have stuff before Circumspice but they were basically a different band at that stage.
