I think it has some of the fastest and angriest stuff since the earliest releases. RE: Purchases and acquisitions - hugo - 01-14-2022 can't remember if maybe we spoke in here about how Sgùrr was a change in direction, so I skipped it at the time. I'll have to check it out to round out my Thy Catafalque collection. RE: Purchases and acquisitions - Godflesh - 01-15-2022 It was a change in direction and lacks cohesion. That's why I skipped it rather soon and ended up without the LP. I occasionally listened to the two more or less blackened moments of the album - Jura and Sgùrr Eilde Mòr. But then I found it again like a year later and started to get some kind of grasp of the chaos and beauty instead of having an even flow. Even though the album on the surface bounces from metal to electronica, folk and to black metal, I found something built around the two 15-minute centrepieces, of which Sgùrr Eilde Mòr is one. Especially on vinyl it is an avantgarde journey, built on three sides, each of which has one heavier cut contrasting and complementing the other 1 or 2 songs (or the other way round). I guess all Thy Catafalque records are avantgarde journeys, but this is more jarring and has sharper turns. It's different than the albums before and after, so it's hard to put my finger on how high to place it in their discography, especially with its flaws and certain simplicity, but nowadays I enjoy it a lot. In fact, it's awesome. After listening to it today a couple of times, I can say that at this moment I enjoy it more than at least Naiv, Geometria or Róka Hasa Rádió, which is saying a lot. However, on another day the situation is the other way round. As for the best - the new album, Vadak, may become the pinnacle for me. Years will show, but I'm quite confident about it. RE: Purchases and acquisitions - Aldhissla - 01-21-2022 Ninkharsag - The dread march of solemn gods (White/ 500) Wiegedood - There's always blood at the end of the road (Dark Green, /300) RE: Purchases and acquisitions - hugo - 01-21-2022 how's that Wiegedood? Since moving to Century Media their vinyl got super expensive so until I find a <$35 copy I won't listen to it

Since moving to Century Media their vinyl got super expensive so until I find a <$35 copy I won't listen to it Well, previously to the release, they promised it to be "something completely different" (dunno if they used those exact pythonesk words, tho : ) and in my opinion, they held that promise.. I haven't had the chance to listen to the whole album yet, but 2/3 into it, it is a very diverse and grim record, to say the least. Definitely worth buying if you're into Wiegedood in general and not afraid to explore new shores. I'm going to kill Century Media because the sleeve of my copy has some small damage on one side, godfuckingdamnit! If the regular black version is enough for you, it's available directly from Century Media for €28,99, which is like $32,99. https://www.cmdistro.de/Item/Wiegedood_-_There-s_Always_Blood_At_The_End_Of_The_Road_-black_2LP-/3937 RE: Purchases and acquisitions - hugo - 02-03-2022 January haul: Møl - Diorama (clear pink w/black swirl /200) Rapture - silent stage Rapture - songs for the withering Echo & The Bunnymen - porcupine (white) Emma Ruth Rundle - engine of hell (cloudy clear) ISIS - oceanic (gold w/red splatter /300) ISIS - panopticon (red w/red swirl /1000) Prince & The Revolution - purple rain (purple) Slowdive - s/t (violet marbled) Manchester Orchestra - COPE (red marbled) Arcturus - Starts & Oblivion (clear /400) Touché Amoré - lament demos (band excl. neon pink w/gold&white swirl /500) Cult Of Luna - the raging river (blue/white marbled /500 - replacement for the "blue galaxy" version that didn't come out galaxy-ie at all) Lacrimosa - echos (NOTVD /333) U2 - achtung baby!
