"The 5th Wave"

Another one of these "dystopian young adult fiction" book franchises that Hollywood bought up (see also "Hunger Games, "Divergent" et al). Unlike the other dystopian worlds in which such franchises are set though, this vision of the future isn't oversimplified into the haves and have-nots, the writers have actually managed to convey a "Zombieland" type feel, where loads of individual stories intersect, though we still see it mainly through the eyes of the central protaganist(s).

Fairly entertaining, some interesting (if predictable) twists, mostly this film is saved by another star turn by Chloe Grace Moretz. If somebody could tell the retard screenwriters that an electromagnetic pulse doesn't affect combustion engines or electronic devices that were switched off at the time of the attack though, I'd be much obliged.

Watched "The Last Witch Hunter" last night. Can't see why so many people hated it, it's just silly entertaining fun.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was also way better than expected!

Oh yeah, forgot about that, we watched it during the week as well! Quite good. Kind of "Downton Abbey"-meets-"Sharpe"-meets-"Buffy". :-)

Yeah, I'm not so much into typical costume dramas nor generic zombie movies, but it bizarrely made a great marriage of the two.

Been on a binge watch recently, "In the Valley of Elah" was yesterday and was pretty damn good if you can deal with the slow pacing. "13 Hours" was pretty memorable as well.

gosh, I wish they stopped with the remakes already. Now they are remaking Jumanji which was a shitty movie to begin with.

RE: Film Thread - Blood Music - 09-04-2016

House of Wax was already a terrible idea, the original and the remake suck, haha.

RE: Film Thread - Doogz - 09-04-2016

The remake at least redeemed itself by having Paris Hilton die horribly.

Going to see "The Shallows" tomorrow. Might be fubar, but I don't care. Trailer got me curious, and it cannot be worse than Sharknado, so why not? :-D
