RE: Beer Recommendation Thread - winterburner - 08-02-2017 Went there on Saturday. Agreed - at least two days would be needed for enough time for all the different beers but alas, I only went on one day. Might go again in Turku. Probs my favourite one was Bryggeri's rhum barrel aged Vuosisata trippelbock that tasted like full on rum. Loved it. Also had some great Lammin Sahti, Mathildedal's Vimma barley wine, and the bourbon barrel aged imperial stout from Pyynikki to name a few. Sent from mTalk RE: Beer Recommendation Thread - Godflesh - 08-02-2017 I definitely agree with Lammin Sahti products, Pyynikki barrel-aged imperial stout, and Vimma barley wine. Edit. I'm thinking of joining some monthly beer club/subscription again. It's been 10 months or so since Saveur Biere stopped most of the monthly subscriptions and I see no continuation in sight yet. Perhaps the Mikkeller Beer Club or Mikkeller Beer Mail: https://shop.mikkeller.dk/products/mikkeller-beer-club-1 https://shop.mikkeller.dk/collections/beer/products/mikkeller-beer-mail RE: Beer Recommendation Thread - Blood Music - 08-07-2017 I've only tried Pyynikkki wheat bear, and it's pretty good. Haven't seen their other products on the shelf. Didn't manage any Helsinki beer fest, too locked up here in Porvoo. :o RE: Beer Recommendation Thread - Blood Music - 08-07-2017 Huh - why is the craft beer club so much more expensive? Which one is better? They had some amazing other-brand beers on tap when I was in Copenhagen. RE: Beer Recommendation Thread - Godflesh - 08-07-2017 The Mikkeller craft beer club gets you also some limited stuff, occasional other high quality brewers (Warpigs, Three Floyds), occasional club-exclusive beers. But when you haven't tried too many Mikkellers yet and you aren't very hi-fi with your beer, you should go for the Mikkeller beer mail. I'm leaning towards joining Mikkeller beer mail in a couple of months. RE: Beer Recommendation Thread - Godflesh - 09-07-2017 FiftyFifty Brewing Co.: Eclipse -series https://untappd.com/fiftyfiftybrewing/beer?sort=created_at_desc&q=eclipse There are some left at Beergium. Expensive as hell, but should be worth it. https://www.beergium.com/en/search?controller=search&orderby=position&orderway=desc&search_query=fifty+fifty I ordered some of those and some Bruery and Olde Hickory. They all should age well. RE: Beer Recommendation Thread - Emplate - 09-16-2017 Savukataja (Smoke juniper) has got to be the best Prykmestar product I've tried. I was for a while interested to taste it, but always ended up not doing so, since I haven't usually liked Prykmestar's beers that much, until yesterday I finally decided to give it a go. And I was really positively surprised by it! It was roasty, and there was this certain sharpness in the taste, but at the same time it was really smooth and delicate. Very good rauchbier. RE: Beer Recommendation Thread - Aldhissla - 09-16-2017 The good thing about craft beer becoming such a hipster thing is that it's getting easier to obtain. I just discovered that a big local supermarket chain has now established a (small) craft beer shelf in the beverage department. Even though I got plenty of (regular) beer at my place atm, I had to get one.

Very good rauchbier.Kinda in the same boat there. Always wabted to try it but haven't been sure about it. It's also not the cheapest beer to buy especially if you're not sure you'll like it or not. Have to try it now though... Sent from mTalk RE: Beer Recommendation Thread - Godflesh - 09-19-2017 Prykmestar Pekoniolut (Bacon beer), Nokkospils (Nettles pils), and Kahvi vehnä (Coffee wheat) were nothing to cheer about. However, the Terva juhlaolut (Tar celebration beer) was really tasty and I have a feeling that Savukataja will be in the same vein. I have to try that. |
